PROGRAM RECOGNITION
BFA in Dance Performance & Choreography — intensive study in technical, creative, theoretical, historical, and analytical areas of dance
Conservatory-style training in a liberal arts setting
Prepares students for careers as professional dancers, choreographers, or graduate students
TRAINING
21st century dance training: technical training, creative exploration, choreographic skills, body-mind centering
Advanced levels of ballet, contemporary modern, and West African required
Studio electives: jazz, tap, world dance, musical theatre dance
Somatic movement: structural yoga for dancers, classical Pilates, experiential anatomy
PERFORMANCE & PRODUCTIONS
Three main-stage dance productions per year: Dancing in the Landscape, Fall Dance Concert, and Spring Dance Concert
Additional: Red Circle Showcase, senior thesis projects, Black History Month Concert
Choreography showings and American College Dance Association Conference presentations
