PROGRAM RECOGNITION
•BFA in Dance Performance & Choreography — intensive study in technical, creative, theoretical, historical, and analytical areas of dance
•Conservatory-style training in a liberal arts setting
•Prepares students for careers as professional dancers, choreographers, or graduate students
TRAINING
•21st century dance training: technical training, creative exploration, choreographic skills, body-mind centering
•Advanced levels of ballet, contemporary modern, and West African required
•Studio electives: jazz, tap, world dance, musical theatre dance
•Somatic movement: structural yoga for dancers, classical Pilates, experiential anatomy
PERFORMANCE & PRODUCTIONS
•Three main-stage dance productions per year: Dancing in the Landscape, Fall Dance Concert, and Spring Dance Concert
•Additional: Red Circle Showcase, senior thesis projects, Black History Month Concert
•Choreography showings and American College Dance Association Conference presentations
NOTABLE ALUMNI
•Graduates dancing with companies in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, and DC
•Alumni continuing at East Carolina, University of Illinois, Florida State, Duke, Smith College, and more
