•Acceptance to the college is not required prior to the audition

•Acceptance to the music program requires prior acceptance to the college

Scheduling

•Individualized audition available if you miss the scheduled audition dates

•Request via the department's online form

What's The Process

Audition Expectations

•Perform two pieces of contrasting styles at an appropriate level

•See the department's Literature Level guide for repertoire guidance

•Sight-read music on your instrument

•Instrumentalists also play several scales

•Accompaniment must be live for pieces composed with accompaniment

-Pre-recorded accompaniment tracks are not permitted

Music Major Requirements

•Complete a music theory diagnostic exam

•Complete an aural/sight-singing exam

•Interview with the Program Director

Audition Day

•Activities begin at 8 a.m. in Zug Memorial Hall, Hess Gallery (2nd floor)

•First session at 8:30, followed by diagnostic exams, auditions, and interviews

•Lunch provided for you and your family

•Concludes around 2 p.m.

Notification

•Results mailed within two weeks of audition

•Must be accepted to Elizabethtown College before acceptance to the music program

•All music major candidates automatically considered for the Music Performance Scholarship

Scholarship Info

Music Performance Scholarship

•Awards vary in size and are renewable for up to four years

•Open to vocal, keyboard, and instrumental performers

•Students may audition in up to two performing areas

•Both music and non-music majors are eligible

Renewal Requirements

•Enroll in private lessons on primary instrument with college music faculty

•Demonstrate acceptable progress in private lessons and assigned ensemble

•Maintain enrollment in assigned ensemble
