Monologues

MTCP Monologue Option B

Required Monologues

Two contrasting monologues from published plays or professional writers

Contemporary

One contemporary monologue, typically written after 1950

A professional writer is someone whose plays have been produced but may not have been professionally published

Classical

One classical monologue with heightened language, typically written before 1950

Shakespeare is welcome, and other heightened-language writers or contemporary adaptations are also acceptable

Transfer Pathway

Transfer applicants to BFA Performance can use Emory & Henry's VCCS, Transfer Virginia, and concurrent-admission pathways, with up to 75 prior credits evaluated toward the degree.

What's The Process

Audition Process

In the last published cycle, applicants completed their audition by recorded submission through Acceptd OR in person at Super Saturday, not both

The school uses common-prescreen criteria as the audition material standard

Selected applicants then complete an interview for BFA admission and scholarship consideration; this is not an additional performance audition

BFA admission and scholarship decisions follow the interviews

The Acceptd forms remain closed and the next BFA schedule is not yet published

4-year renewable $1,000 Talent Scholarship through auditions and interviews

Students receive additional scholarship funds for completing an official campus visit
