MTCP Song Option B

Two Songs

One musical theater song from any time period

One song of your choice from any time period and in any style that best suits you (musical theater, pop, hip-hop, folk, rock, rap, soul, country, punk, etc.)

This song should contrast the style of the first selection

Monologues

MTCP Monologue Option A

One Monologue from A Published Play or Professional Writer

A professional writer is someone whose plays have been produced but may not have been professionally published

Dance

MTCP Dance Option A

Dance or Movement Sample

Show your best version of dancing or moving

Must include at least one turn, one jump, and one kick

Or other suitable rotation, elevation, and extension that works for your body

Students must demonstrate promise of pre-professional abilities

BFA students jury yearly before department faculty; results are Pass, Probation, or Fail

BFA Musical Theatre students audition for a practicum assignment every semester

The last published Acceptd application fee was $35; need-based waivers were available through Acceptd Support

Transfer Pathway

Transfer applicants to BFA Musical Theatre can use Emory & Henry's VCCS, Transfer Virginia, and concurrent-admission pathways, with up to 75 prior credits evaluated toward the degree.

Audition Process

In the last published cycle, applicants completed their audition by recorded submission through Acceptd OR in person at Super Saturday, not both

The school uses common-prescreen criteria as the audition material standard

Selected applicants then complete an interview for BFA admission and scholarship consideration; this is not an additional performance audition

BFA admission and scholarship decisions follow the interviews

The Acceptd forms remain closed and the next BFA schedule is not yet published

4-year renewable $1,000 Talent Scholarship through auditions and interviews
