Admission

Audition on the primary instrument or voice determines both admission to the music major and scholarship eligibility

Minimum grade of C required in all music courses

Eligibility

World language requirement: two years of a single high school world language or one year of college-level

Program Requirements

Senior capstone/thesis project required for graduation

Piano proficiency exam required (placement exam before classes begin)

Convocation attendance required (30 concerts per academic year)

Major ensemble enrollment required each quarter, taken concurrently with applied lessons

Admitted students take a music theory and aural-skills placement exam at orientation — for course placement only, not admission

Transfer Pathway

EWU lists a current Spokane Falls Community College AFA Music articulation agreement that includes the BA Music liberal-arts pathway. Transfer students meet with the Music Program Director to map music courses and remaining degree requirements.
