•Bullet: 24-credit-hour Jazz Studies Minor: applied study on the student's instrument (4 credit hours), musicianship (8 credit hours: MUS 1501/1502 Comprehensive Musicianship I & II), and 6 credit hours of jazz coursework — MUS 1070 Introduction to Music Technology, MUS 1530 Jazz Improvisation I, MUS 3581 Jazz History, and MUS 3800 Jazz Theory I
•Bullet: 2 credit hours of jazz ensemble participation (Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Lab Band, or Jazz Combo) plus 4 elective credit hours drawn from further jazz ensembles, Jazz Improvisation II/III, Jazz Theory II, Jazz Band Arranging, or Jazz Pedagogy
•Bullet: Open to all EIU music majors; other EIU students are admitted after an audition demonstrating sufficient performance, theoretical, and keyboard skills, with admission questions directed to Prof. Paul Johnston
