•Bullet: Two recommendations from professionals familiar with your musical ability
•Bullet: Submit online via the department's Recommendation Form (eiu.edu/music/machform/view.php?id=69564); a paper copy may instead be mailed to the School of Music
Repertoire
•Bullet: Strings: one or more solos from standard repertoire for your instrument (about seven minutes); piano accompaniment optional
•Bullet: Woodwinds and Brass: three contrasting solos or etudes
•Bullet: Percussion: be prepared on any three categories (snare drum, keyboard percussion, timpani, drum set styles, multi-percussion); greater consideration for more than three
•Bullet: Guitar (classical): two selections demonstrating your abilities
Scales & Technique
•Bullet: Strings: all major scales
•Bullet: Woodwinds and Brass: all major scales and the chromatic scale
•Bullet: Guitar: major scales and single-line sight-reading
Accompaniment
•Bullet: Bring your own accompanist if desired; piano accompaniment is optional for strings
