Audition Process
•Complete a full audition on your primary instrument or voice to be formally accepted
•Request an audition via the department's online form
•In-person, video, or Zoom audition options available
•If the audition is unsuccessful, students may repeat it once
Audition Expectations
•Complete the Music Education Supplemental Application online (eiu.edu/music/machform/view.php?id=69407) before your audition; a paper copy may instead be mailed to the School of Music
•Sight-reading will be provided
•Aural skills evaluation: singing back several short five- or six-note melodies after one hearing (solfege not required)
•For video/Zoom: upload an unedited video to YouTube or Vimeo (private link) and submit the link via the department's online form
Decisions
•Audition by March 1 for maximum scholarship consideration
•Talent-based scholarships awarded on a rolling basis November through March
