Choose a full audition (Option 1) if you wish to be considered for a music scholarship

Eligibility

Transfer students from NASM-accredited schools must complete a Transfer Acknowledgement Form

Admitted students take music theory, aural-skills, and piano placement exams at orientation — for course placement only, not admission

Transfer Pathway

EIU publishes an Elgin Community College Music Production articulation pathway into the BA Music Audio Recording Technology concentration.

What's The Process

Admission Options

Option 1 — Full audition on your instrument or voice (required for scholarship consideration)

Option 2 — Musical Skills Assessment: perform a short excerpt on an instrument or voice, describe your music background, and complete an aural-skills sing-back evaluation

Either option may take place in person or over Zoom

Audition Expectations

Voice (full audition): prepare one art song or musical theatre number

Instrumental (full audition): one selection showing your current level on your instrument

Sight-reading and an aural-skills sing-back of short five- or six-note melodies (solfege not required)

Request your audition or skills assessment via the department's online form

Decisions

Audition by March 1 for maximum scholarship consideration
