Instrumental scholarship applicants prepare two contrasting pieces

Multi-instrumentalists may perform one work on each instrument

Instrumental works are presumed to be notated except for applicants auditioning on a non-Western instrument

Questionnaire

Prepare a short information sheet listing instrument or voice type, years of study, high school ensemble background, solo or ensemble contest participation, composition or computer-music experience, and accompaniment experience for pianists or guitarists

Application Logistics

Apply to Earlham through the Common Application by an Early Decision or Early Action deadline to remain eligible for the Music Scholarship

Complete the separate Music Scholarship application in Earlham's admissions portal by February 1

Audition Process

No audition is required for admission to the BA Music Studies major

Music Scholarship selection considers the audition submission and completed scholarship application

Auditions are organized by Admissions, and virtual scholarship auditions are available when needed

Music Scholarship

Awards range from $1,000 to $2,500 per year and are renewable for up to four years

Recipients participate in an ensemble and take an applied lesson each semester while on campus

The separate scholarship application is due February 1

Rariden Scholarship

One selected Indiana resident interested in art, music, or theatre receives $5,000 per year for four years
