OPTIONAL ARTISTIC SUPPLEMENT
•Submit via SlideRoom through the Common Application portal ($5 fee)
•Upload a dance video of up to 10 minutes in length
•Submit material separately for each dance style
•Style options: African Dance, Asian/Indian Dance, Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Jazz Dance, Modern, Tap Dance, Other/Mixed Styles
VIDEO GUIDELINES
•Solo or small group work is ideal
•If including a large group dance, make sure you can be easily identified (use highlighting, arrow, or describe your position)
•Performance situations preferred, but excerpts from technique class are acceptable
•Do not send large-group cheering or drill team routines
•Choreography samples welcome in addition to performance
FORMS SECTION
•Provide title of works, choreographer, and music/sound accompaniment
•Include date of the recording and length of the pieces/excerpt
•If ensemble, describe your place on stage
•Do not mail or email submissions — only SlideRoom submissions are reviewed
What's The Process
ADMISSION
•No audition required — any student admitted to Duke University can major in Dance
•Dance faculty evaluate optional artistic supplements and can make recommendations to admissions
•A strong supplement may help your Duke application, but a low ranking will never hurt it
•Prospective students are welcome to observe or participate in selected classes with prior faculty approval
