Audition Requirements
Dance
90-SECOND SOLO IN ANY DANCE FORM
•Perform a solo showcasing who you are as a dancer
•May use music, text, soundtrack, or silence
TECHNIQUE COMPONENT
•Video format: Select and perform any 2 of 5 genre phrases (Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Hip-Hop, West African) from provided instructional videos
•Live format: Technique class featuring 3 of the 5 genres

•Fall enrollment only
AUDITION PORTAL
•Submit audition materials through Discover Drexel portal
•Transfer applicants may submit on a rolling basis
What's The Process
FORMAT OPTIONS
•Students may audition via video submission or live audition
•No impact on acceptance whether audition is live or video
VIDEO SUBMISSION
•Submit through Discover Drexel portal after university application
•Accepted starting August 1
•Part 1: Recorded interview responding to 5 prompts about your dance journey and goals
•Part 2: Two genre phrase videos selected from instructional links
•Part 3: 90-second prepared solo
•Smartphone recordings are acceptable — no professional editing needed
LIVE AUDITION
•Register online for a live audition date
•Duration: 10:00am – 2:00pm
•Technique class in 3 genres + 90-second prepared solo

Scholarship Info
DANCE IMPACT SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
•Available to students auditioning for the Dance major
•Essay-based application
•Applications open December 19 for following academic year
PERFORMANCE ENSEMBLE SCHOLARSHIPS
•Available to all Drexel students regardless of major
•Awards up to $3,500 for the academic year (split across fall, winter, spring quarters)
•Must participate in ensemble technique classes 2x/week and perform in concerts
•Separate audition required (video or in-person)
-Video: Two ~2-minute solos in different genres, emailed as Vimeo/YouTube link
-In-person: Two solo pieces in different genres, max 2 minutes each
-One solo should be in ballet, modern, contemporary, or jazz
•Video submission deadline: April 10, 2026 at 5pm
•In-person audition dates: April 12 and April 19, 2026 at 2pm (Forman Dance Studio)
