Program Recognition
•Drake’s BM with Elective Studies in Business places musicians at the intersection of performance and arts management. The program is one of a small number of undergraduate Music Business offerings in the United States and pairs Department of Music study with business coursework.
Training
•Students build musicianship through one-on-one instrumental or vocal lessons, ensembles, music theory, history, and technique. They add marketing, accounting, economics, and business study through the Zimpleman College of Business, learning how arts organizations, venues, and artists operate.
Performance & Productions
•Internships and on-the-job learning connect students with Des Moines’ arts scene, including venues, arts organizations, arenas, and clubs. Students may also complete an optional senior recital while participating in Drake’s award-winning ensembles and a department with more than 150 performances each year.
Professional Development
•Graduates can pursue performing-arts management, artist representation, nonprofit administration, facility management, marketing, recording, teaching, and performance, supported by required experiential learning and Drake’s liberal-arts curriculum.
