Program Recognition
•Drake’s BFA Theatre: Acting pathway is built for students preparing for sustained professional work onstage and in related theatre careers. Acting applicants audition for entry, with on- and off-campus audition events offered through the Department of Theatre Arts.
Training
•Students study techniques ranging from Stanislavski and Meisner to classical work, while developing dialects, auditioning, playwriting, voice, movement, stage combat, and production awareness. The curriculum also introduces stage management, theatre history, directing, and behind-the-scenes practice.
Performance & Productions
•Acting majors work in the William S.E. Coleman Studio Theatre and the 460-seat Performing Arts Hall, with access to about six Main Stage productions each academic year. Students may be cast in a Main Stage production during their first semester.
Professional Development
•Drake’s broad theatre training supports regional theatre, film, television, teaching, internships, and graduate study while connecting students with faculty who work professionally in theatre and screen media.
