Program Recognition
•Drake’s BFA in Musical Theatre combines a liberal-arts education with focused preparation for a career onstage and across the production industry. Prospective majors audition for entry and for consideration for performance scholarships.
Training
•Coursework develops singing, dancing, movement, voice, piano, music theory, and multiple acting styles. Students build performer skills while learning how directing, design, stage management, and choreography contribute to a complete production.
Performance & Productions
•Students perform in classroom work, experimental projects, Main Stage shows, and professional opportunities in the Des Moines community. Drake reports five to six productions each year, including work in the black box and Performing Arts Hall, with summer performances and internships also available.
Professional Development
•Graduates pursue Broadway, national tours, regional theatre, teaching, media, or graduate study, supported by production experience, internships, and connections through the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center.
