Training
•BA Music students build a liberal-arts music degree around theory, music history and literature, performance requirements, and music electives.
•The Brass concentration centers the applied study on the instrument while leaving room for the broader University distribution requirements and at least 21 credits outside music.
Performance & Productions
•Brass applicants prepare at least two contrasting works from standard repertoire, including movements of sonatas, concerti, or other solo pieces.
•The audition also tests sight-reading plus proficiency in scales and arpeggios, giving the faculty a direct view of preparation, musicianship, and technical command.
Degree Flexibility
•Approximately one-third of the BA curriculum is music, so brass students can pair focused applied study with substantial exploration beyond the Institute of Music.
