Audition Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Dance

Masterclass-Style Audition in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, and Tap

Tap section is optional (observation available)

No solos or costumes required

Pointe work excluded

Attire

Hair secured in bun with pins and net (or pinned back if short)

Neat, clean dance clothing; low-profile jewelry only

Footwear

Bring all necessary shoes: ballet, jazz, tap (optional)

Admission Pathway

Select the Dance Pedagogy track before the audition

Transfer Pathway

Transfer applicants to the BA Dance Pedagogy track can use Dean transfer agreements or the Dean Transfer Guarantee, with eligible credits evaluated after admission. Dance transfer applicants still complete the required dance audition and submit photo/resume materials.

Audition Process

Required audition follows submission of the Dean admission application

In-person auditions are held at the Dr. Paula M. Rooney Student Center in Franklin, MA

Check-in begins 45 minutes before the scheduled audition; auditions begin promptly at 9:00 AM

Audition Expectations

Select the Dance Pedagogy track before the audition

Decisions

Faculty evaluation is reviewed with other application materials

Results are not given on audition day

Reserved for candidates applying directly to Dance or Theatre programs

Award may be revised if student changes majors
