Training
•The 42-semester-hour BA core combines acting, design and technology, community-engaged theatre, script analysis, dramaturgy, contemporary performance, collaboration, arts entrepreneurship, a senior project, production work, and advisor-approved electives
•Students work with an advisor to shape a creative emphasis around interests such as acting, design, directing, dramaturgy, film production, playwriting, stage management, or theatre management
Performance & Productions
•The Theatre & Film program presents two to three mainstage productions each year alongside student-driven theatre works and film projects
•Students can participate in mainstage shows, film productions, and student work from the beginning of their college experience
Professional Development
•The curriculum connects theatrical practice with arts entrepreneurship and civic engagement, and the catalog identifies internship opportunities in art therapy, cultural tourism, and youth theatre
Facilities
•Renovated Harper-McNeeley Auditorium has expanded backstage space, a modern lighting and rigging system, and adaptable seating for approximately 350 to 1,000 audience members
•The Boiler House scene shop supports work with materials from foam to steel, while found-space productions use campus mansions, an outdoor pavilion and amphitheatre, a chapel, and community venues
Degree Flexibility
•Twelve advisor-approved elective credits may come from Theatre and Film or related Art, Business, Communication, and English courses; Theatre majors also complete a department-approved minor
