Application Logistics
•Apply to CWU through university admissions separately; Music Department admission requires both an audition and CWU acceptance
•Submit the audition application through Acceptd, or audition in person on a campus audition date
•30 USD Acceptd application fee for online submissions
•Music applications reviewed for full consideration by March 1
•Acceptd final deadline for Fall 2026 submissions is June 30, 2026
•Late applications continue until studio spaces fill; some studios close after March 1
Composition Admission Pathway
•Students begin music study and are formally admitted to the BM in Composition at the end of the first year, once musicianship, theory background, and compositional skills are demonstrated
Placement
•Admitted students take a music theory and aural-skills placement exam at orientation — for course placement only, not admission
