Program Recognition
•One of the oldest graduate dance programs in the U.S.; CWRU's contemporary dance graduate study dates to the mid-1970s.
•Partners with the Cleveland Institute of Music (Dalcroze Eurhythmics) and DanceCleveland.
Training
•30-credit MA in Contemporary Dance with a 5:1 student-to-faculty ratio; faculty were professional dancers in New York City before joining CWRU.
•Coursework moves from technique and choreography into kinesiology via the Dancer Wellness Program — the first graduate-level program of its kind in the U.S.
•Graduate dancers begin on the MA track and may continue in the MA or advance to the MFA after faculty evaluation.

•Carisa Armstrong, MFA '02 — director of the Academy for Visual and Performing Arts at Texas A&M University.
Value
•Funding supports conference travel and break-week workshops at NYC companies; fellowships and assistantships go to many students. Based at the Mather Dance Center in Cleveland.
