Audition Process
•Bullet: No audition is required for admission to the BS Dance program
•Bullet: Apply to Coppin State University and declare Dance as your major
Post-Enrollment
•Bullet: All incoming and transfer dance majors must complete a required Placement Audition for course placement, not admission
•Bullet: In-person placement auditions are held November 14, 2026 or March 6, 2027, for students entering Spring 2027 or Fall 2027
•Bullet: Register for one audition date via the Dance Program High School & Transfer Student Open House & Placement form; no fee
•Bullet: Structured in a class format; a CSU Dance Program representative contacts registrants with location and parking details
•Bullet: Recommended attire: form-fitting tops and bottoms (no jeans or sweats), no bare midriff, ballet shoes (no pointe shoes), socks, and bare feet; bring a form-fitting long-sleeved top for possible floorwork
•Bullet: Apply for admission to Coppin State University before or after the placement class
•Bullet: If you miss or cannot attend the scheduled in-person audition, submit a Dance Placement Video before enrolling instead: a piece (or excerpts) in any style (Improv, Modern/Contemporary, Hip Hop, Tap, African, or Jazz) under 2 minutes, clear and well-lit showing full body in motion (identify yourself if in a group), uploaded to YouTube, Google Drive, or Vimeo with link permissions open, submitted via the Dance Placement Audition Form on coppin.edu
