Audition Requirements Vary by Instrument
•Bullet: Vocalists: perform three selections from memory with piano accompaniment; art songs or arias preferred for at least two selections; the third selection may be a musical theatre piece
•Bullet: Pianists: two or three contrasting works from the Baroque, Classic, Romantic, Impressionist, or 20th-century style periods, performed from memory
•Bullet: Strings: two contrasting works from the Baroque, Classic, Romantic, or 20th-century style periods; memorization required for string performance majors, encouraged but not required for other string majors and minors
•Bullet: Harp: two works in contrasting styles from the standard repertoire; orchestral excerpts also acceptable; memorization not required
•Bullet: Guitar: two works in contrasting styles from solo literature and/or etudes; memorization not required
•Bullet: Woodwinds and Brass: two works, one lyrical and one technical, of contrasting style periods; memorization not required
•Bullet: Percussion: performance in two of snare drum (rudiments and a prepared solo or etude), timpani, or marimba; memorization not required
Accompaniment
•Bullet: Vocalists must sing with live piano accompaniment
•Bullet: Non-keyboard instrumentalists performing pieces written or arranged with piano accompaniment should audition with an accompanist
