Holistic approach pairing movement practices with theoretical investigation
Techniques include Modern, Ballet, West African, Afro-Caribbean, Hip Hop, Capoeira, and Improvisation
Live musical accompaniment for all technique classes
Three levels of choreography plus composition, anatomy, dance writing, and dance history courses
Company-in-residence: David Dorfman Dance (two-week residency each semester)
Recent guests include Kyle Abraham, Monica Bill Barnes, Faye Driscoll, Batsheva Dance Company, Doug Varone and Dancers, Ronald K. Brown, Kate Weare Company, Shen Wei Dance Arts
Performance & Productions
At least six dance productions each year through the department and student-run clubs
