Training
•CSP's Instrumental and Classroom K-12 track is an 18-credit instrumental sequence inside the BA Music Education/Teaching major, following the major's 55-credit shared core.
•The 2026-2027 catalog names Instrumental Literature & Arranging, Brass Methods, Percussion Methods, Woodwind Methods, String Methods, Instrumental Ensemble, Private Lesson - Accompanying, and Instrumental Conducting Apprenticeship as this track's coursework.
Professional Development
•The methods sequence moves across brass, percussion, woodwind, and string families, while the conducting apprenticeship and ensemble study prepare students to lead instrumental groups.
•The major also includes K-6 Music Methods, 7-12 Music Methods, Teaching Practicum, Inclusive Classroom, Reading Across the Content Areas, and Student Teaching.
•After completing the instrumental track and other state requirements, graduates are eligible to apply for a Minnesota license for Instrumental and K-12 Classroom Music. CSP notes that students seeking another state's credential should consult that state's licensing board.
