Scholarship Audition Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Optional audition for scholarship consideration only; it is not required for program admission.

Resume (Required)

•Theatrical resume including performance and/or technical experience

Essay (Required)

•Prompt: "How has your theatrical experience prepared you for a meaningful life and how will it enable you to contribute positively to the world?" (double-spaced, 1-2 pages)

Video (Required for Performance Applicants)

•Two different video-recorded selections demonstrating range of abilities

•Each selection 1-2 minutes long

•Optional: up to one minute of a vocal music performance with piano backing

•Record audition materials new; do not submit recordings from previous productions

•Upload recording files or accessible YouTube or Google Drive links

Portfolio (Required for Technical/Production Applicants)

•Digital portfolio of technical theatre work (may include materials, pictures, drawings, and scripts)

•May span multiple departments (costumes, stage management, lighting, sound, etc.)

•Upload compiled portfolio files or an accessible Google Drive link

•Theatre scholarships cannot be combined with music, visual arts, or speech and debate talent scholarships

Transfer Pathway

For BA Theatre Art, Concordia's Cobber Completion Plan lets an eligible Minnesota AA or MnTC transfer complete most Core requirements before arrival; theatre-major coursework is then evaluated through the college's transfer-credit process.

No Program Audition Required

•Admission to the BA Theatre Art program is through general university acceptance

•No audition or portfolio is required for program admission

Scholarship Process

•Scholarship applicants submit a theatrical resume, essay, and either recorded performance selections or a technical portfolio

•The scholarship committee screens the submitted materials before inviting finalists to an on-campus interview
