PROGRAM STRUCTURE
•BA Dance Major with 11 units culminating in senior thesis
•Four areas of study: Foundations, Creative Core, Critical Core, and Capstone
•Explores movement as embodied knowledge, artistic expression, and cross-cultural dialogue
THE BLOCK PLAN
•Unique Block Plan allows intensive focus on one course at a time
•Interdisciplinary approach combining dance with theatre, film, and new media
•Study of performances beyond the stage — social rituals, political demonstrations, and intercultural approaches
VISITING ARTISTS & TRAVEL
•Work with internationally renowned visiting artists including 600 Highwaymen, Eiko Otake, Sister Sylvester, and Nora Chipaumire
•Regular opportunities for academic travel to New York, London, India, and Serbia
•Home to the historic Colorado College Summer Dance Festival (dance pioneer Hanya Holm taught here for 43 years)
FACILITIES
•Two dance studios and a somatic practices studio in historic Cossitt Hall (National Register of Historic Places)
•Rehearsal and performance space with full lighting grid
•Edith Kinney Gaylord Cornerstone Arts Center with cutting-edge performance venues
PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
•Performance opportunities in mainstage productions for both seasoned majors and first-time performers
•Advanced seminars combining theatre and dance
