Training
•Bullet: Four-semester theory and musicianship sequence moves from Harmony I and Musicianship I through Harmony IV and Musicianship IV, with applied studio lessons each semester.
•Bullet: The current curriculum combines performance, composition, traditional media, and electronic media, pairing practical music-making with academic coursework.
Performance & Productions
•Bullet: Students can choose from Concert Choir, Symphonic Band, Repertory Jazz Band, Jazz Workshop Big Band, Small Ensembles, Small Jazz Ensembles, Contemporary Jazz Combo, and Afro-Latin Percussion Ensemble.
•Bullet: Ensemble study accompanies private studio instruction and piano proficiency coursework.
Degree Flexibility
•Bullet: The AA Music program is a 60–70 transferable-unit university transfer program serving students who may continue to CSU, UC, or independent colleges and universities.
•Bullet: CSM directs students to ASSIST for lower-division major preparation and recommends counseling and an educational plan for transfer.
