Prescreen Requirements

Songs

Pre-Screen Songs

•Prepare two songs: one at a slow tempo and one at a fast tempo

•One of the two songs must be in your mother tongue

•Keep each song to a maximum of 2 minutes

•Keep your full body visible in frame from head to toe

•You may transpose songs to a different key to suit your voice

Monologues

Acting Assignment

•Play a famous poet giving an online reading of their newest poem in a video of up to 2 minutes

•Choose a clear character type such as hip and young, old and wise, or frustrated and angry

•You may use an accent and/or costume

•Perform the provided nonsense poem with expressive use of rhythm, tone color, volume, staccato, and legato

•Include a character introduction and the poem recital in the video

Dance

Requirements

•DANCE/MOVEMENT Solo (approx. 2 min video)

•Choose a theme for your solo and give it a clear title

•Let the theme inspire your movements

•Can be filmed in a studio or any inspiring location

•Music is optional

•Must include visible movement and dancing

Suggested Elements

•A clear entrance

•A turn and a jump

•A floor movement

•An arm gesture and a leg gesture

•A closing

Additional Materials

Creative Portrait Video

•Create an approximately 2-minute video showing who you are as a performer in your own way

•Highlight your creative strengths and unique style

•You may use existing texts, songs, self-written material, or a combination of disciplines

•Show what excites you as a maker and performer

•Submit a musical/theatrical CV in PDF format

•Include your date of birth, secondary education, and stage experience

•Submit a recent clear passport photo or headshot in JPEG or PDF format

Songs

Round 1 Songs

•Prepare four songs: two at a slow tempo and two at a fast tempo

•Use free-choice repertoire and genre, but each song must involve a different character

•Include one slow-tempo song and one fast-tempo song in your mother tongue

•Perform all songs from a character perspective

•Bring taped/prepared sheet music or chord charts for the pianist

•Bring a separate list of the chosen songs with the artist or composer

Requirements

•Optional Self-written Song

•You may perform a self-written song with self-accompaniment

•A piano is available; bring any other instruments you need

Monologues

Requirements

•Monologue

•Prepare a monologue of your own choice

•The text should be approximately half an A4 page

•Perform it the way you want to play it

Dialogue

•Memorize a provided dialogue and learn both roles

•The dialogue text is available for download from the Codarts website

Dance

Requirements

•Round 2 Dance Class

•No advance preparation is required

•Learn a short dance phrase taught during the audition

•Assessment focuses on physical ability, musicality, spatial awareness, coordination, creativity, and development potential

•Wear dance clothes and socks; do not wear dance shoes

Requirements

•Finals Dance Class

•Participate in a one-hour group dance class covering various aspects of dance

•Bring dance clothing

Additional Materials

Round 2 Music Theory

•Reading and writing in G-clef

•Identify and calculate intervals on a given note

•Know all major and minor scales, including notes and key signatures

•Recognize and construct major, minor, diminished, and augmented triads

Round 2 Solfege

•Recognize and sing intervals including perfect 4ths, perfect 5ths, and major/minor 3rds

•Recognize and sing major and minor triads

•Sing a major scale ascending and descending with correct intonation

•Sight-sing a simple melody and sight-read or clap rhythms

Finals Group Creative Assignment

•Groups of about 15 applicants receive inspiration material

•You have 45 minutes to create a 5-minute presentation together

Finals Motivation Interview

•No preparation is required

•The interview focuses on your motivation and goals

Application Logistics

•Register via Studielink, then complete the Osiris application

•Upload pre-selection video links in Osiris; YouTube links may be set to unlisted

•Application and assignment submission deadline: January 6, 2027

Enrollment

•Fall enrollment only

•Diploma requirement: VWO, HAVO, or MBO level 4, or international equivalent

•Capacity test may be available in special cases if diploma requirements are not met

•Voice test required after acceptance to check vocal health

Important Notes

•Programme is taught entirely in Dutch

•Applicants whose prior education was not completed in the Netherlands, Flanders, or Dutch language must present an NT2-II certificate at enrolment

What's The Process

Prescreen

•Video pre-selection based on 6 submitted assignments

•Submit video links via Osiris Application after Studielink registration

•Upload videos to YouTube; unlisted privacy is recommended

•High volume of applicants; no feedback provided on submissions

•Pre-selection results by January 20, 2027

Live Audition

•Round 1: January 29 and February 1, 2027; acting monologue, singing 4 prepared songs, and optional self-written song with pianist provided

•Round 2: March 12 and 15, 2027; acting dialogue, singing workshop, dance class, music theory test, and solfege exam

•Finals: March 25, 2027; group creative assignment, acting/singing/integration work, 1-hour dance class, and motivation interview

Decisions

•Round 1 results by February 5, 2027

•Round 2 results by March 17, 2027

•Final results by April 1, 2027
