Admission Process
•Music Education applicants complete a performance audition on their principal instrument or voice plus an entrance interview at a scheduled Audition Day
•Voice principals: two memorized selections in contrasting styles (no language requirement); pop songs and choral parts are not accepted
•Instrumental principals: follow the standard BA/BM (non-Performance) area requirements for the instrument
•A music theory and musicianship placement exam is administered on audition day
Entrance Interview
•Discuss a suggested music-education journal article (provided by request) during the interview
•Optional preparation: sing a folk song of your choosing (evaluated on preparation, not singing quality)
Video Option
•Applicants for whom travel presents a hardship may submit a one-take, unedited video with the entire applicant in frame
Timeline
•Submit the School of Music Application at least 2 weeks before your desired audition date
•Audition and interview in January, February, or March for entrance and scholarship consideration
