Admission Process
•Music Education applicants complete a performance audition on their principal instrument or voice plus an entrance interview at a scheduled Audition Day
•Voice principals: two memorized selections in contrasting styles (no language requirement); pop songs and choral parts are not accepted
•Instrumental principals: follow the standard B.A./B.M. (non-Performance) area requirements for the instrument
•A music theory and musicianship placement exam is administered on audition day
Entrance Interview
•Discuss a suggested music-education journal article (provided by request) during the interview
•Optional preparation: sing a folk song of your choosing (evaluated on preparation, not singing quality)
Video Option
•Out-of-state (200+ miles away) and international students may submit a video audition — upload to YouTube or Vimeo and email links to music@csuohio.edu
Timeline
•Submit the School of Music Application at least 2 weeks before your desired audition date
•Audition and interview in January, February, or March for entrance and scholarship consideration
