Audition Process
•Bullet: Admission is through the standard university application
Post-Enrollment
•Bullet: Students interested in becoming a theatre major must first undergo an audition/interview assessment
•Bullet: The assessment is designed to evaluate the performance and critical thinking proficiency before enrollment in the program
•Bullet: Assessments should be completed the first semester
•Bullet: Assessments are held the third week of class in the fall semester
•Bullet: Students must present a 1 – 1 ½ min. monologue. Monologues can be comedic or dramatic.
•Bullet: 16 bar a cappella song (optional); this is recommended if you are interested in pursuing musical theatre.
•Bullet: Potential majors will be given a short script and a list of questions prior to the audition.
•Bullet: Potential majors will be asked a number of questions regarding their interpretation of the script.
•Bullet: In addition to the above requirements, you will be asked to complete a 30 minute sketch copying a simple black and white image.
•Bullet: This sketch will be utilized during the interview process to discuss needs and skills.
•Bullet: This sketch is an evaluation of current skills meant as a starting point to assess growth throughout the program. No prior drawing skill or instruction required.
