Application Logistics

•Apply to Clark Atlanta University through the university application process

•Music Department acceptance is separate from university admission

•Departmental audition scheduling uses the CAU Music Department interest/audition form

Eligibility

•All music majors and minors declare a primary performing instrument

•University admission does not guarantee acceptance as a music major or minor

Transfer Pathway

CAU has a published California Community Colleges transfer guarantee for associate-degree completers entering with junior status. BA Music transfer students must also complete the Music Department audition/interview process before full departmental acceptance.

What's The Process

Audition Process

•Audition on the strongest chosen instrument or as a vocalist

•Submit a letter of intent and arrange an interview with appropriate music faculty at least 30 days before the planned audition

•Early auditions receive priority consideration for departmental Music Scholarships

Audition Expectations

•Auditions are normally on campus; a quality recording may be submitted at least two weeks before an available audition date if the student cannot travel to Atlanta

•Skype or YouTube auditions may be available with advance confirmation

•Recorded auditions count toward provisional acceptance; an on-campus audition is required for full Music Department acceptance

•Church Music applicants follow the published audition requirements for their chosen instrument or vocal area

Post-Enrollment

•Students are approved for Church Music if they demonstrate satisfactory academic progress by the end of sophomore year and receive recommendation from the concentration coordinator

Departmental Music Scholarships

•Students who audition one or two semesters before entering and qualify receive early consideration for departmental Music Scholarships

•Late auditioners may receive scholarships only if funds remain
