•New students complete an online Music Placement Test; after completion, a music faculty member is assigned as advisor for the next step in music study.

•All music courses are open to students regardless of major, giving area-of-emphasis students access to the department's broader course offerings.
•Performing Ensemble Scholarships are open to all students regardless of major, creating an optional performance-based funding opportunity alongside music study.
Degree Flexibility
•Music - AA Area of Emphasis provides a music-focused route within an associate degree for students building music study alongside general education.
•The department also welcomes students who want private instruction or music courses for general education credit, so students can engage with music without changing their major.
