Audition Process
•Audition is for music scholarship consideration only
•Students must first be admitted to Charleston Southern University
•Complete the Music Audition Application to request an audition
•After university admission, the Horton School of Music will request a brief video audition in the student's primary performance area
•Confirmation email sent within 24-48 business hours
Post-Enrollment
•Incoming music students complete the Musicianship Skills Entrance Assessment during summer Preregistration
•Assessment has two parts: written theory skills and aural/sight-singing skills
•Used for placement/preparation, not as an audition gateway

Technique & Sight-Reading
•Prepare applicable major scales; percussion scales are required on mallet instruments only
•Wind, string, harp, and guitar applicants complete short sight-reading
•Percussion sight-reading may be on snare drum, timpani, and/or keyboard percussion
•Guitar applicants should demonstrate working knowledge of major and minor chord forms
