Vocal Performance emphasizes classical vocal training within a liberal arts foundation
Voice majors take at least one weekly private voice lesson plus weekly or bi-weekly studio master class
Upper-division students may work weekly with a coach/accompanist and Alexander Technique practitioner
Performance & Productions
Undergraduate voice students perform solos and roles in concerts, opera scenes, and full Opera Chapman productions
Performance opportunities include junior and senior recitals, University Singers, University Choir, University Treble Choir, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and concerto competition
Voice majors are required to take acting and dance classes within the College of Performing Arts
Professional Development
Vocal Performance graduates matriculate to major graduate schools and apprentice programs including Juilliard, Manhattan School of Music, New England Conservatory, Peabody, Rice, and USC
Guest artists have included Lawrence Brownlee, Kristin Chenoweth, Eric Whitacre, and L.A. Opera vocal coach Nicholas Roehler
