Training
•Choral is one of the four embedded areas of emphasis in CGCC's Associate in Arts, Fine Arts, Emphasis in Music. The 2026–2027 catalog describes the 60–64-credit degree as preparation for transfer to four-year fine and performing arts programs.
•Music study combines theory and musicianship coursework with private instruction and ensemble participation. The catalog's learning outcomes emphasize historically and stylistically informed performance, self-evaluation, collaboration, professionalism, and preparation for further study.
Performance & Productions
•CGCC's Arts page identifies performance opportunities for choral groups and vocal ensembles. The music catalog recommends Concert Choir (MUP153) for Choral students, with Community Chorus (MUP150) as the fallback when MUP153 is unavailable. Students choose four ensemble credits from the approved list, and substitutions require program-director approval.
Degree Flexibility
•The AAFA Music pathway is built for university transfer; students may need to complete courses at more than one Maricopa college and should consult an advisor about the lower-division requirements of the intended transfer program.
