Scholarship Audition, Interview, and Portfolio Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Optional audition, interview, and portfolio for scholarship consideration only; they are not required for program admission.

Songs

Optional Scholarship Vocal Material

16 bars of music that reflects vocal range and ability when paired with one monologue

Scene partner option includes 6 bars of vocal music

Monologues

Optional Scholarship Performance Material

Individual students: two contrasting monologues, one classic and one contemporary, not to exceed 5 minutes total

Alternative option: one monologue plus 16 bars of vocal music

Scene partner option: two-person scene, 5 minutes max, plus 6 bars of vocal music

Recordings from one-act or school performances are not accepted

Additional Materials

Letters of Recommendation

Entering freshmen: recommendation letter from a principal, counselor, or high school theatre instructor

Transfer students: recommendation letter from a theatre instructor

Recommendation should attest to character, interests, and abilities in theatre

Provide a link to an audition or design presentation video (YouTube, Dropbox, Google, etc.)

Performance applicants: two contrasting monologues, one monologue plus 16 bars of vocal music, or a two-person scene plus 6 bars of vocal music

What's The Process

No Audition Required for Admission

Admission is through the university application and education program requirements

Optional Scholarship Audition/Interview

Theatre Apprenticeships are available for incoming freshmen, transfer students, and current students who plan to participate in Theatre

Applicants submit a video link through the online Apprenticeship Application

Performance applicants may submit monologues, vocal material, or a two-person scene; technical/design applicants may submit a portfolio/design presentation
