Scholarship Audition and Portfolio Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Optional audition and portfolio for scholarship consideration only; they are not required for program admission.

Monologues

Theatre Arts Audition: Acting

•Prepare two contrasting pieces of about two minutes each

•Include one classical piece, such as Shakespeare, and one contemporary piece

Additional Materials

Portfolio

•Production/technical theatre applicants: prepare hard-copy photos or digital images of work on productions, such as scenery, costumes, lighting, properties, or stage management

•Upload portfolio production pictures through the application form as a PDF

Resume

•Production/technical theatre applicants: upload a resume detailing production involvement through the application form as a PDF

Video

•Record each audition monologue video in one continuous take

•Record each video from the audience perspective

•Upload each video to YouTube as an unpublished or unlisted, non-password-protected video

•Include your first and last name plus the title and author of the play in the video title

•Submit the exact YouTube video link in the application form

•Do not send video files by email or use Dropbox or other sharing tools

•Apply to Centre through the Common App or Coalition App; the university application is free

•Admission to BA Theatre is through the university application only

Enrollment

•Students of any major may take theatre classes and participate in productions

•Theatre major, minor, or second major options are available

Important Notes

•Performing Arts/Theatre Scholarship consideration uses a separate scholarship form and optional audition/material submission

•The scholarship is open to theatre and technical theatre applicants; majoring or minoring in Performing Arts is not required

What's The Process

Audition Process

•No audition, prescreen, portfolio, or interview is required for BA Theatre admission

•Optional audition/material submission is for Performing Arts/Theatre Scholarship consideration only

•Applicants may audition in person or submit video/materials through the scholarship form

•In-person auditions are scheduled by the Performing Arts Coordinator

Published 2026 Scholarship Cycle

•The current form is labeled Performing Arts Scholarship Application 2026; Fall 2027 scholarship dates are not yet published

•Video/material deadlines were December 1, 2025 for Early Decision I/Early Action and February 1, 2026 for Early Decision II/Regular Decision

•In-person scholarship auditions had to be completed by December 15, 2025 for Early Decision I/Early Action and February 15, 2026 for Early Decision II/Regular Decision

•Performing Arts/Theatre Scholarship awards up to $5,000 per year

•Renewable and stackable with other merit scholarships, excluding premier scholarships

•Open to domestic and international students; a Performing Arts major or minor is not required

•Recipients take theatre coursework and contribute to the theatre program through classes, productions, shop work, or similar participation
