•70-credit major with five components: technique, choreography, history/theory, off-campus study, and comprehensive exercise
•At least three 300-level courses required
GATEWAY PROCESS
•Students apply to the Chair of Dance for the special major after enrolling at Carleton
•Petition recommended by the beginning of junior year
ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA
•Personal interviews with dance faculty
•Demonstrated readiness for Modern Dance III: Technique and Theory
•Submission of a Special Major Petition including a short essay and detailed course schedule
•Prior completion of introductory and intermediate dance coursework expected
