Enrollment

General Major is the default entry point for incoming BA Theatre Arts students

All new majors attend Theatre Arts New Student Orientations & Auditions on Convocation Day

Transfer students are reviewed for training placement; most are placed in THEA 114B

Technical students share portfolios and tour facilities at orientation

Important Notes

Transfer applicants must have an equivalent of THEA 114A, Fundamentals of Acting

Use ASSIST to review articulation, substitutions, and equivalencies

Transfer Pathway

The General BA Theatre Arts option uses CSULB's published theatre transfer requirements, including THEA 114A preparation and ASSIST articulation guidance. After admission, department advising reviews transfer coursework for placement into the theatre sequence.

Freshmen audition at orientation only as an opportunity to be seen by faculty and directors

Transfer auditions help place students into the most appropriate actor-training level

Complete the BeachScholarships application to be considered for College of the Arts and university-wide scholarships

2026-2027 COTA scholarship application available in January 2026

Complete both the general university section and the COTA department section

FAFSA or CADAA required for most need-based scholarships; 2026 deadline is June 30
