•Two pieces that demonstrate two-hand coordination and musicality

•Apply through Cal State Apply from August 1 through November 30, 2026 for Fall 2027 entry

•Cal Poly Pomona Music has not yet published the Fall 2027 supplemental-application deadline or audition schedule

•After both applications are received, the department contacts applicants to schedule an audition

•Cal Poly Pomona is campus-impacted for first-time freshmen; Music is not listed among the program-impacted majors for Fall 2027

Admission Pathway

•Admitted students take a music theory and aural-skills placement exam at orientation — for course placement only, not admission

Audition Process

•In-person audition strongly encouraged

•Contact dpuentes@cpp.edu for alternate arrangements if outside the area or facing extenuating circumstances

Audition Expectations

•15-minute audition slot including setup and takedown time

•Includes a short interview component

•Select material that best demonstrates your abilities

•May be asked to sight-read a melodic excerpt

•Ear training: call-and-response exercises to identify intervals and chord qualities
