•Fall enrollment only for VAPA applicants

What's The Process

Audition Process

•No audition required for admission — apply through the university application (Common App)

•Students accepted to Cal Lutheran may declare the Music major with Performance emphasis

•In-person audition day for Music: February 22, 2026

•Virtual audition accepted in place of live audition

•Music department may request a follow-up interview via Zoom

•Those within 100 miles of campus strongly encouraged to audition in person for largest scholarships

•Accompanists provided for in-person auditions; recorded backing tracks not allowed

Vocal Audition Requirements

•Sing two memorized contrasting pieces from the classical repertoire

•Contrasting styles should include differences in mood, tempo, and language (Latin, Italian, French, German, English)

•Classical style (art songs and arias) preferred; one Musical Theater piece may be substituted

Vapa Scholarship

•Visual and Performing Arts Scholarship — up to full tuition

•Available to incoming first-year and transfer applicants

•Optional audition for Music scholarship consideration

•Scholarship recipients must perform in at least one major ensemble

•Some scholarships require enrolling in 1-credit private lesson each semester

•Available to all Cal Lutheran students regardless of major; largest scholarships require Music major

•Renewable for subsequent years
