Eligibility

Internal admission program — must be accepted by BYU as a continuing day student prior to applying to the major

Limited enrollment program — acceptance by application only

Register as Theatre Arts Major or Pre-Theatre Education Major in the Fine Arts and Communications Advisement Center (2102 ARTS)

Complete TMA 115, TMA 160, and TMA 276 with a C+ or better

Minimum overall GPA of 3.0

Pass the reading, math, and writing portions of the ACT

Complete a background check and fingerprinting through the McKay School of Education

No performance audition is published for Theatre Arts Education admission

Admission to the limited-enrollment BA is by application after students are accepted to BYU as continuing day students

Tma Student Scholarships

TMA Student Scholarships for 2027 are due September 30, 2026; the application opens in late August

TMA Emergency Scholarships accept applications continuously

Eligibility

TMA majors and minors, including Theatre Education pre-majors, may apply
