Live Audition
•Jazz audition on your primary instrument, accompanied by a Jamey Aebersold play-along track or live rhythm section
•Memorization of melodies and chord changes is required
•Instrumentalists: medium-tempo blues, a jazz standard, and a ballad from the published lists; major, Mixolydian, and Dorian scales in all 12 keys; sight-reading
•Vocalists: one bossa nova, one swing tune, and one ballad from the published lists (no pre-screen required)
•Percussionists: prepared snare drum solo plus drum set time/soloing in swing, rock, bossa nova, and samba styles
•Keyboard placement assessment and a musicianship placement exercise on audition day — for course placement only, not part of the admission decision
•Virtual auditions available on request via Zoom
