Scholarship Audition Requirements

Optional audition for scholarship consideration only; it is not required for program admission.

Songs

Two Songs in Contrasting Styles

Short segments of two songs showing your range and ability

Sing in any style you love

One song a cappella, one with sheet music or accompaniment track

You may also accompany yourself

Typically only one song will be heard, but prepare two

Additional Vocal Selection

Sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" or "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" a cappella

Dance

Short Dance Routine

Music and Dance scholarship auditioners participate in a short dance routine

Routine is accessible for all dance levels

Bring extra clothes you can easily move in

Have your music teacher submit the Vocal Music Teacher Recommendation Form via Butler CC website

Dance scholarship auditioners participate in the combined Vocal Music and Dance audition

Upcoming audition dates: Friday, November 13, 2026; Friday, February 5, 2027; Saturday, March 6, 2027; Friday, April 2, 2027

Audition Expectations

Auditions are held in person at Butler's El Dorado campus when available

Students who register for an in-person audition receive a schedule approximately one week before the audition date

Plan to keep the full day open for audition and interview activities
