•The BA composition path joins composition, music theory and history with individual artistic development in a department where Ming Tsao directs the Center for 21st Century Music and composers Jonathan Golove and Jeffrey Scott bridge writing with performance
•Students can use the Sound Recording and Production spaces for electronic, interactive and multimedia work as well as live recording
Performance & Productions
•The Center for 21st Century Music supports creation and performance of contemporary work, while June in Buffalo brings composers and performers together around new repertoire
•The Slee Sinfonietta presents four programs each year, giving student composers a recurring professional new-music context
Facilities
•Baird Recital Hall provides 150 seats, projection and 5.1 sound; Lippes Concert Hall, rehearsal rooms and the department’s 150-plus annual free events create additional settings to hear and document work
