Training
•Students create film, video, games and interactive media while learning cinematography, editing, sound, web media, programming, virtual reality and post-production
•The sequence moves from basic production through intermediate and advanced 400-level work, with film and media theory supplying historical and critical context for creative decisions
Performance & Productions
•Production classes are typically limited to 15–18 students, and finished documentaries, short films, digital projects and interactive work build an individual portfolio
•Facilities include a green-screen studio with lighting grid, computer labs with industry software, traditional and emerging-media equipment, and a 200-plus-seat HD-projection auditorium
Professional Development
•Media Study traces its institutional roots to Gerald O’Grady’s pioneering 1973 program at UB; screenings, festivals, internships, clubs and faculty research connect current production to that experimental legacy
