•Harp is the student's applied area inside a BM that combines performance study with preparation to teach general music, ensembles, instruments, voice, and technology in pre-K–12 schools
•Music Education classes average 6–15 students, and fieldwork with Boston-area schools builds observation and teaching experience throughout the degree
Performance & Productions
•The Harp audition begins with Orchestral excerpts
•A second published expectation is Two contrasting solo works, one of which should be an original composition for harp (the other work may be a transcription); One étude
•Applicants also meet Music Education faculty, connecting applied musicianship with the program's collaborative and reflective approach to teaching
Professional Development
•Two pre-practicum gateway assessments lead to a supervised 300-hour practicum and eligibility for Massachusetts initial licensure in vocal, instrumental, and general music
•Community programs, professional conferences, ensembles, and Royal College of Music study abroad extend learning beyond campus
