•The General route offers the widest choice of music electives across history, ethnomusicology, theory, composition, performance, and music education within BU's 128-unit BA
•A common first year grounds students in music theory, aural skills, history, piano, and the University Hub before they shape an individualized path
Degree Flexibility
•The route reserves extensive space for non-music electives, interdisciplinary study, an additional major or minor, and career-focused work in arts leadership or related fields
•Up to six units of private lessons and/or ensembles may count with audition and faculty availability
•Students can use the General route to include coursework toward Music Education licensure and complete a two-term capstone connecting their chosen areas
