Scholarship Audition and Interview Requirements

Optional audition and interview for scholarship consideration only; they are not required for program admission.

Dance

Placement Audition Class

Technique placement audition includes ballet barre and centre work, plus progressions and/or combinations in modern and jazz

Faculty interview follows the class to discuss academic, artistic, and career goals

Digital Dance Audition

Submit 3-5 minutes of basic dance exercises in at least 3 of 5 forms: modern, hip-hop, West African, ballet, or jazz

Perform a 90-second to 2-minute solo in any dance style

Digital dance auditions due by 11:59 PM EST on February 1, 2027

Admissions will notify you via email to access the digital Cardinal Landing portal

Complete the supplemental application 'Department of Theatre & Dance Audition/Interview Registration' on the portal Checklist

Select your preferred audition date and location and submit — the department will contact you directly

What's The Process

Audition Process

BA/BS Dance has open admission; audition is not required for admittance

Technique placement audition is required after applying to Ball State

Audition also provides departmental scholarship consideration

Department does not require prescreens for auditions or interviews

Incoming First-Year Awards

University CFA Awards: $4,000/year in-state, $2,000/year out-of-state

Fine Arts Scholarships: $1,000/year for 4 years based on academic achievement

Talent Scholarships: $500-$1,000 one-year stipends (reapply each year)
